There has never been a better time to invest in Barcelona property. With prices still below the peak of the beginning of 2008 alongside competitive mortgage lending, low interest rates, a growing economy and the potential for healthy rental yields, buying an apartment or a house in Barcelona all point to 2017 and beyond being an opportunistic moment for property investors.

The number of property sales transactions in Barcelona during the first quarter of 2017 increased by 27% compared to the same period in 2016 (a total of 13,667 transactions), according to Spain’s National Institute of Statistics (INE). Property portal Idealista showed an annual growth rate of 18.5% over the same period. The areas of the Zona Alta and Eixample saw the highest increase in prices followed by Sant Martí, Sants – Montjuïc, Gracia and Barcelona Old Town.
