Because of the temperatures dropping over the last few weeks, the skiing season has begun just in time. The firsts ski resorts opened their doors at the end of November and the predictions are saying that this will be one of the most exceptional seasons in recent years. In Atipika Barcelona we would like to review some of the most exclusive resorts in the area.
In the Catalan Pyrenees, the ski resorts are ready for an unforgettable winter. In Baqueira Beret, important inversions have been made in snow groomers and the renovation of several catering spots. This is a privileged resort, and whether you have already enjoyed a few days on it or not, you cannot afford to miss it this year.
The investment Baqueira Beret has made will offer more snow even if it’s less cold. Besides, they will open a shop in the accesses in which you will be able to buy gourmet products from Valle de Arán. This season the resort has 38 ski slopes with a total of 55km to descend.
Borda Lobato has made some reformations to upgrade its gastronomic offer and in La Bonaigua they have a better cable car service and their slopes have been enlarged after some remodelling.
The resorts La Molina, Vallter 2000 and Masella have been the firsts to open their doors to the public, they have been functioning more than two weeks and they foresee a long season ahead.
Boí Taüll ski resort, in Lérida, will have up to 40 ski slopes with a total of 33 km to descend. They have also been making some improvements in their facilities – they have a new snow groomer, snow machines and made some modifications in their slopes as well.
It is also important to highlight that this season, public institutions and resorts have worked together to host international competitions. According to Oscar Cruz, president of ‘Federación Catalana de Deportes de Invierno’, this season will be one to remember, as the most important of the competitions – Snowboard SBX Cup – will take place in La Molina.
