Sarrià - Sant Gervasi Guide

Sarrià-Sant Gervasi is one of the most affluent areas of Barcelona, stretching from Avinguda Diagonal to the north of Eixample all the way up and into the Collserola mountain range.

This is the neighbourhood with many of the city’s finest houses and apartments, as well as many parks and gardens and excellent schools and hospitals. The villages of Sarrià, Vallvidrera and Sant Gervasi have been absorbed into Barcelona, but they still retain their individual identities.

Sarrià is one of the most sought-after barrios, and combines easy access to central Barcelona with a strong village feel, centred around Major de Sarrià, the largely pedestrianised street with local shops, excellent bars and restaurants and high quality local services.

Collserola Natural Park is one of the biggest metropolitan parks in the world and Tibidabo is its highest peak, where you’ll find the first fun fair ever built in Spain, as well as the Fabra Observatory and the Sagrat Cor Temple.

There are many historic buildings and cultural sites in the area. In Bonanova above Sant Gervasi stand the Rotonda, Gaudí’s Bellesguard and the Jardins de la Tamarita by Rubió i Tudurí. The old Casacuberta factory by Josep Domènech i Estapà has been transformed into the Museu de la Ciència, one of the most popular tourist and educational destinations in Barcelona.

To the eastern side of the neighbourhood just above the inner Ronda del General Mitre, a significant park, the Parc del Turó del Putxet looks down on the quarter of El Putxet.

Tres Torres is interesting because it is an area with a large number of wonderful houses in addition to apartment buildings. Continue towards the city centre and you’ll pass the lovely gardens of Turó Park and the parks of Monterols and Moragues, green areas around Via Augusta, Carrer de Muntaner and Avinguda Diagonal, where luxury homes meet the commercial quarter.

The gardens of the Turó Park together with the Monterols and the little park of Moragues, are the green parts of a residential and also commercial quarter, especially near Diagonal street, Muntaner street and Via Augusta.

The Park del Turó del Putxet looks down on El Putxet quarter, just under Ronda del Mig, and it belongs to Farró, vertically structured around Saragossa and Vallirana streets.
