Tapas and Nouvelle Cuisine in Barcelona

tapasynouvellecuisine

On the 4th of September the Food Explorers Tast closed its doors. It consists on a reinvention of the ‘Feria de la Tapa’ that the beer brand ‘San Miguel’ has been organizing over the last few years. The idea of combining tapas and haute cuisine is inevitable, although to some it may sound surprising.

We all know that a haute cuisine meal is made up by several dishes of rather small proportions, so you get to try a wide variety of dishes in a single lunch or dinner. It is also very important to find a good wine that goes along with the food. ¿Doesn’t it remind you of something? It is clearly very similar to going for ‘tapas’, although it is more common that in the latter case you substitute the wine for beer.

Although the event is over, you can still get a taste of the best ‘tapas’ in Barcelona via the event’s website. Here you can find a list of all the ‘tapas’ that were served at the event, as well as the names of the establishments responsible for the delicacies.

Barcelona is home to a great Mediterranean upscale cuisine offer, not only when talking about ‘tapeo’. If you are willing to make a gastronomic discovery, we recommend three of our favourite restaurants in the city.

First in our list we have Les Truites restaurant, in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi neighbourhood. As its name in Catalan indicates, they cook up a wide variety of omelettes, although there also are other dishes in offer as well as a great and select wine list.

In second place we find Accés restaurant, that surprises its clients with a very short menu but full of appealing dishes. This restaurant has specialized in contrasts and an impeccable presentation.

And last but not least, we find the restaurant November. This place, situated close to Paral·lel, specializes in gourmet meats. One example of their mouth-watering dishes is the November burger, that will surely surprise you.

If you want to enjoy the gastronomic offer in Barcelona at any time, we recommend that your ‘base camp’ is located in the best areas of the city for this purpose. For example, this high profile loft-style duplex located in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi-Galvany area. Once you’ve picked up some top tips from the best restaurants in town, you can wow your guests with some tasty culinary creations in your fully equipped open-plan kitchen.
