Sitges Guide

Sitges is located in the region of Garraf, southwest of Barcelona, with which it has good connections. A municipality with a Mediterranean and peaceful style, known for its beaches and its promenade lined with mansions. It has more than 28,000 inhabitants in 44km2, of which 30% are foreigners.

Sitges has a warm climate, thanks to its geographical location, at the foot of the Mediterranean. Additionally, it is surrounded by the Garraf Massif, which protects it and allows outdoor activities practically every day of the year. Its location is unbeatable, just a few minutes from the city of Barcelona (38km) and El Prat International Airport (25km), as well as having a good network of bus and train transportation.

Sitges is often the stage for major international and national events, such as the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, the Sitges Carnivals, renowned art exhibitions organized by the Museu Maricel or Cau Ferrat Museum, and other events. It is a highly attractive tourist destination where simply strolling along its beautiful promenade is an experience, surrounded by beautiful Indian palaces and grand mansions on one side and the Mediterranean Sea on the other. In total, Sitges offers 4km of beaches and a unique old town, where its surrounding streets are filled with shops, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. It has a great tourist infrastructure with facilities and three marinas.

Properites in Sitges

Sitges has different neighborhoods, some more modern and others with a great historical background. In the western end of the municipality, next to the Sitges seafront promenade, we find Terramar, a place where the modernist style mansions that marked Sitges' glorious era are located, where all the Catalan bourgeoisie wanted to be.

Today in Terramar there are also homes of different architectural styles, where the modernism of the 1920s mixes with the most avant-garde design houses. Between this neighborhood and the center of Sitges we find Vinyet, where large houses, Mediterranean-style houses, and apartments have been built.

A very comfortable neighborhood to live in since the town center is only a few minutes away, highlighting above all a beautiful and popular church for the local people. The center of Sitges is divided into an old part and a new one. The old town offers small picturesque alleys where ancient artists like Santiago Rusiñol lived. One of the residential neighborhoods that stands out is Aiguadolç, located above the Port of Sitges. An area that was built in the 1980s. From many of the houses, you can enjoy panoramic views of the sea, as the buildings were constructed on a small mountain, allowing all the houses to enjoy spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea and Sitges. Another neighborhood very similar to Aiguadolç is Levantina, although in this case, it is an area of more recent construction, also located on a mountain where there are luxury houses with infinity pools and spectacular panoramic views. In fact, it is in this neighborhood where the best viewpoint in all of Sitges is located.

Behind Levantina is the neighborhood of Quint Mar, where we can currently find different companies offering leisure and sports activities, as well as various homes. A small valley just above the center of Sitges is the neighborhood of Vall Pineda, where more spectacular houses are located. Additionally, this area has two tennis clubs and a huge equestrian center. Sitges as a municipality has three other urbanizations that are usually associated with Castelldefels due to their proximity, these are Les Botigues de Sitges, Garraf Dos, and Rat-Penat.

As you can see, this coastal town offers a wide variety of activities for its entire population, being a place where all its inhabitants coexist respecting the values that have always been part of this municipality, characterized by its tolerance and the open-mindedness of its residents and visitors. It is a place of coexistence where diversity adds up and enriches.
