The 48th “
edición del festival internacional de jazz” is celebrated this October in Barcelona, so if you like music, we’ve got some plans for you.
Jazz represents
improvisation, talent, grace and magic. We are used to hearing very similar patterns and voices in music, but jazz is style and has a
unique personality and essence. It is completely different, a world apart within the music universe.
On the 24
th of October a festival is taking place in Barcelona where you will be able to enjoy this music with soul. The event will take place in several locations: ‘El Palau de la Música’, ‘la sala Barts’, ‘l’Auditori’ and ‘el Conservatori del Liceu’.
During this festival, you will be able not only to hear some music but also to create it as some of the activities proposed are lectures from artists invited to play such as José Mercé, Vicente Amigo o Tomatito.
On the 4
th of October, at ‘sala Barts’,
Jack DeJohnette, one of the best drummers in the world, played with Ravi
Coltrane and Mattheu
Garrinson where he played songs from his album “In movement”.
On October 20
th you will be able to enjoy the festival’s first concert at ‘sala Barts’. ‘
Van Van’ will take you to Cuba with their wonderful rhythms as they merge traditional and popular music from the United States or South America. Their music will make you feel as you have never felt before.
Hiromi, with The Trio Project, will play on the 26
th of October in the breathtaking ‘Palau de la música’. The
Japanese piano player will present “Spark”, its fourth record with Anthony
Jackson and Simon
Phillips.
October will end with another special date in ‘Sala Barts’. In this occasion,
Bill Frisell Quartet presents “When you wish upon a star”, accompanied by
Petra Haden’s voice. Quartet will make us enjoy cinema’s magic through legendary film soundtracks, as the ones in Psychosis, The Godfather or Bonanza.

th of November, José Mercé will perform in ‘Palau de la Música Catalana’ his latest work ‘Doy la Cara’. Piano player James Rhodes will be waiting for you on November 10
th in ‘sala Barts’− his way of playing will leave you speechless. On that same date, Michael Nyman Band will play as well but in ‘Palau de la Música Catalana’. He is one of the most talented composers and piano players in the UK. ¿Have you ever had the chance of seeing him play live?
