Guide to Sants Montjuic

It is the largest district in the city and borders Hospitalet de Llobregat, where you can find the Ciudad de la Justicia and the shopping center Gran Vía 2. It also includes iconic locations such as Poble Espanyol and Font Màgica.

The residential neighborhoods of Sants and Bordeta-Hostafrancs are very popular in Barcelona. In their streets, squares, and spaces, their recent industrial and working-class past blend in balance with the most avant-garde gardens and projects from the early eighties. Sants-Montjuïc is, by far, the district in Barcelona with the most square meters of urban greenery.

Close to the mountain of Montjuïc, you will find spaces dedicated to sports and culture. Another interesting point is the Montjuïc Cable Car. It offers an impressive experience, as from there you can enjoy fascinating views of the entire city.

El Poble Sec, uno de los barrios más carismáticos de Barcelona, surgió para dar alojamiento a los obreros de las fábricas de la zona. La avenida Paral·lel ha sido el centro de diversión y esparcimiento, con múltiples teatros, cabarets y cafés-concierto abiertos hasta el amanecer.

La Exposición Universal del 1929 marcó un antes y un después, y consolidó la definitiva urbanización de la Plaça Espanya, la construcción del Poble Espanyol, el Estadi Olímpic o la Font Màgica. Y como complemento a la Plaza España, nos topamos de frente con la Fira de Barcelona, ampliada recientemente a la Fira2 (zona de Gran Vía) y actualmente uno de los recintos feriales más importante de Europa.

La participación social de este barrio es muy elevada y ha impulsado la formación de muchos centros sociales. Además, cuenta con el nudo de comunicaciones más importante de la ciudad en cuanto a metro y tren: la Estación Central Barcelona-Sants.
