PALAU DE LA MÚSICA: one of the world’s most unique venues

Located in the Catalan Capital, The Catalan music palace -Palau de la música catalana in Catalan- represents one the top masterpieces of the Catalan modern style -modernisme-. The beauty and singularity of this music hall, led the building to be catalogued as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO on 1997.

Created by the well-known architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, the building masters most of the fine arts such as sculpture, glass and iron work. To highlight, the striking stained glass skylight that has become the icon of Palau de la Música. The natural light flows through it brightening the organic-themed carves of flowers, fruits and palms that overlook the busts of Anselm Clavé and Beethoven.

 

Since it’s opening, more than a century ago, Palau de la música has settled in Barcelona society as the top venue to host cultural -especially classical music- events. One of the most awaited season of concerts is the Christmas time, which tickets get sold out within days. This year, during the big Catalan festivity of Sant Esteve, – Saint Steve name day, 26th December- Palau de la música Catalana will celebrate the 125th anniversary of the establishment of the Orfeó Català choral society. The music hall will also host the New Year’s Eve event, a Viennese Waltz-themed concert.
